To enter the world of Salon 58, is to be welcomed in the spirit of the legendary designer Coco Chanel who said: “When my customers come to me, they like to cross the threshold of some magic place.”

The idea for Salon 58 was born in September 2012 during a visit to Mademoiselle Chanel’s Parisian salon at 31 Rue Cambon. As I sat on her beige sofa, I was enthralled by the beautifully curated space, simply appreciating the moment, and intuitively knew that I wanted to share this experience.

In the spirit of France’s salonnières, Salon 58 therefore invites you on a journey of shared experiences in space where women can meet and be entertained and informed in an atmosphere of camaraderie.

The original salons were places where artists, thinkers and writers gathered to share conversations and exchange ideas as they sought to expand their knowledge and discover new tastes. At Salon 58, regular soirees will continue this agenda in a modern context. Each event will be themed and the thread carried through in the fashion, beauty, food and décor that are presented.

The Salon 58 Armoire will house a selection of carefully curated items that are key to creating a signature style. Beautifully crafted clothing and accessories that are as luxurious as they are timeless will be presented with a dash of daring.

Being able to participate in a personal conversation about style gives me great pleasure and will therefore be an important element of the Salon 58 experience. Together, we will explore your needs and desire for self-expression, not only to hone your personal style but to cultivate a sense of identity that extends beyond clothes.

SOIRÉE NO 8: Stardust

For one night only Jackie Burger will host a celebration, a playhouse, a theatrical show, a culinary exploration curated by Hannerie Visser of Studio H, compliments of Woolworths Food. Join her under the stars in a fantasy world and revel in a new approach to evening dress with all the abandon of playing dress-up. First stop, a Salon 58 gin tea party to awaken the senses followed by fashion installations, a sprinkling of M.A.C Cosmetics magic and a glimpse of the world full of possibility that awaits with Dr Yvette de Villiers.

Being able to greet and welcome you to Salon 58 is the culmination of many years of self-exploration. Consider it the prized stamp in the passport of my life, one that has been filled with challenges, opportunities and a multitude of personal and emotional rewards. The route I have taken is dotted with inscriptions of beauty, discovery and personal growth and has led me to become what I had always hoped: a woman who, in the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “believes in the beauty of her dreams”.

Salon 58 is the expression of one of these dreams, to create “some place of magic” where we can kick off our shoes and connect while enjoying one of life’s ultimate pleasure, that of good company.

I will be your host and act as salonnière at our soirees and style advisor at a tête-à-tête. Above all, I hope to become a close ally, companion and friend. J’aime la vie – to live is a wonderful thing!

Love, Jackie
